Jackie Kleiner is the HMS School Counselor.

Most parents’ recollection of a counselor is from high school, and memories of class scheduling and college recommendations. In the first couple of weeks of school, Jackie has been a crucial component in children and families making the transition from summer to school. She deals with a number of students who had some separation anxiety this year, teaches Second Step lessons in every classroom, and plays an important role with families who experienced significant change over the summer. In addition, Jackie and Principal Bill Carozza work together when children who (rarely!) make inappropriate choices that need our attention. In short, like all of our staff members, her role is essential in making HMS an inviting, warm, and safe place to be.
